Dancing The Diaspora Performance on May 22, 2021
Hello Esteemed Friend!
We are reaching out to ask for your help in making this 2-hour dance performance with dance groups from all over, representing the African Diaspora: Haiti Creafo Danse (Haiti), L’Acadco: A United Caribbean Dance Force (Jamaica), Jarrel Phillips and Capoeira Ijexa (SF Bay Area), Divas and Drummers of Compton (LA, as seen on AGT), and of course our beneficiary Grown Women Dance Collective (Oakland). Our virtual fundraising concert will immediately bring critically needed support to the Grown Women Dance Collective’s vital Pilates Post-Rehabilitation Joyful Movement Life Skills Certification Program. We are also encouraging support of the arts, internationally and nationally, as so many are hard hit by the COVID-19 crisis.
Please join our charged-up multiracial volunteer crew in getting the message out loud and clear, to grow the momentum and make substantive change in our country and abroad!
To make it easy to share with your networks and beyond, we’ve provided samples AND we look forward to retweeting, liking, sharing, and engaging with you, and learning from your twists and takes on it.
This is our chance to make a real impact and rally new support for this needed community work.
Thank you.

The Dancing The Diaspora performance is a telethon-style event that will livestream on Saturday, May 22nd from 7:30PMpm to 9:30pm PST to raise money for the Grown Women Dance Collective (GWDC) Pilates Post-Rehabilitation Joyful Movement Life Skills Certification Program, created by Tonya Marie Amos. This incredible dance performance idea, came about from a local SF Bay Area choreographer, director, actor, and community organizer, Gary Stanford Jr., who dreamt about bringing together dancers from all over, to raise awareness and support for programs that improve the lives of Black people. From his personal connections with our beneficiary, GWDC and Tonya Marie Amos, together with Voices For Liberation, we were able to collaborate and develop a vibrant and celebratory Dance Festival, on May 22nd, Dancing The Diaspora.
The telethon style event will provide low-cost high quality entertainment and just like an old fashioned telethon, attendees will learn more about Grown Women Dance Collective (GWDC), their visionary work certification program, the dancers and the African Diaspora, as well as have the opportunity to donate to GWDC and the artists, directly. Dance performances by our beneficiary Grown Women Dance Collective (Oakland), Haiti Creafo Danse (Haiti), L’Acadco: A United Caribbean Dance Force (Jamaica), Jarell Phillips and Capoeira Ijexa (SF Bay Area), and Divas and Drummers of Compton (LA, quarter finalists on AGT).
The performance is only $8 per ticket — simply register on here to livestream it on May 22nd.
Voices For Liberation is an effort of passionate multiracial artists and community members to increase immediate and ongoing donations for organizations on the forefront of racial justice and protecting Black lives organized completely by volunteers.
